Hi Misho, Your flies are amazing, I love them and I'm sure fish would agree. Here's a pic of four Golden Stoneflies I just tied.

Hi, Graham,
about those flies above, did you sticked them with glue to the stone to keep them not to fly away?
Hey, buddy, these are some of the most beautiful realistic stoneflies I 've ever seen.
Thanks for shering them.

Tight lins and skillful fingers my friend!

Rado

Hi Graham,
Dont make me give up fly tying, man! If fish gets used to your patterns other fly fishers would have to look for other waters out of your reach. (I am joking of course, I am always happy to see a pattern of yours) These stoneflies are true piece of art - you are not fly tier, you are an artist!!!
Respect to your skill and thanks for sharing!

Hi Graham,
I like your flies as the real art! However I can't imagine them for everyday fishing use. I have experience with such flies, there are destroyed in first trout's mouth. Maybe besides some nymphs (like stone fly nymph) made from very resistant material (bodyglass etc.). And f.e. if you use such materials for dry flies, there is a problem with floating. If you have a different experience, let me (us) know, what material are you using to solve these problems.

And finaly, other guys, don't worry you can't fish without them! Fish is no art critic and can't count! So, use an usual hackle, dubbing ... and procedure as you do till now without any despondency :-) Sometimes are the "usual flies" even better than the realistic (f.e. my experience with caddis fly fishing for trout: my CDC caddis is always better than realistic one ... and I'm trying it always).

And one more information for you, Graham. Have you ever heard about the fishing museum? It is in Germany and they are managing a collection of world-wide flies. If you are interested in participation, send me an e-mail (martin.tomas@flyfish.cz or use every adress you can find at my website: www.flyfish.cz) and I'll forward the contact information for the museum to you.

Thank you my friends, I enjoy tying flies very much .

Hi XAXAP, you are right, I really do not tye these flies for fishing and the adult stoneflies do not float well. My boxes of fishing flies look very different than what I have been showing you, a few pictures below are my fishing flies. About 4 or 5 months ago I started experimenting with trying to tye realistic flies and I am happy that people like to look at them. I have been tying these flies to make a collection to go in a glass show piece that will have plastic weeds, rocks and sticks, basicaly a stream bed above my tying desk. I have about 20 fly boxes full of fishing flies, and lately I enjoy spending my tying time experimenting, it's fun for me.

Here's a few flies that are good for fishing

Graham

Hi, Graham,
very nice flies again, my friend! Thanks for shering.
Let me ask you, except those two caddis pupas, which are argueing face to face about which one of them is looking better , are all the rest stoneflies imitations?

Tight lines and skilful fingers buddy!

Rado

Hi Rado, I'm pleased you like them. Actually there are more mayfly larve pictures above than stoneflies. Stoneflies are my favorite fly to fish with, next would be caddis and scuds. I will post some scud pictures below.

Hi, Graham,
so the aligators eat caddis, nice.
Man, I was curious about making of this yellow stone:
http://www.solarexpert.com/fishing/1-yellow-stone-2.jpg
I shall go for flyfishing at a mountain river here, and there are many stoneflies there.
I'll be verry happy If you find some free time to share with us some step-by-step pictures of that yellow stonefly.

Best to you!

Rado

Tight lines my friend!

Hi, Graham,
it looks like the real one indeed.
In fact I did not know this fly untill you post the picture of your fly.
I surfed in the internet and found the adult of this specimen:
http://www.fishpondinfo.com/dobson2.jpg
I will read more about them soon.

Thanks for getting me in to the wonderful world of the entomology

Tight lines and skilful fingers buddy!
